Your Favorite Fruit Year-Round

Just because your kids are dressed in parkas and gloves, instead of shorts and t-shirts, doesn’t mean you have to give up your favorite Oregon fruit. Smoothies made with canned and frozen fruit are a great way to get your nutrients and support Oregon farmers year round. They’re also a fun way to get kids of all ages involved in the kitchen, just drop in the ingredients and blend!

The recipe in this segment uses canned pears and frozen strawberries, but you can easily substitute your favorite fresh, frozen or canned fruit. Oregon fruits go from the field to the freezer within hours, so you know you’re getting produce picked at the peak of ripeness. It’s like fresh from the freezer! This recipe also includes Oregon apple cider and yogurt to make it rich and creamy. Smoothies make for a quick and easy breakfast or on-the-go snack. The recipe can easily be doubled and left overs frozen in popsicle molds for a healthy after-school snack for kids.
